I HAVE HAD IT! I am getting rid of my lab!

You have clicked here because you are very frustrated. Before giving away/surrendering your lab, please consider some of the following:

Obedience Classes

This might be your first dog and you are unsure of how to train one. Talk to your vet or do some research on puppy training classes in your area. They are usually inexpensive and can be something that your whole family can take part in.

Time

You should be dedicating 2-3 hours a day to your lab. To have a lab, and to isolate it or crate it for 14 hours a day is cruel. Labs are social and they need playtime and human interaction. Your lab should be getting at least one walk a day and another separate playtime.Adjust your lifestyle or re-home your lab with a family that can care for it properly.

Routine

Dogs love routine. Labs adore routine. Establish one for your dog. This gives them confidence and an idea of what to expect from their leader everyday. A dog that doesn't have a routine is a stressed animal that can become destructive or burdened with separation anxiety.

Most labs are given up between the ages of 5 months and 2 years as this is the most challenging time. They are teenagers and they are testing you. This will pass and if you have a sense of humour, patience, and invest in training time and a dedicated routine, you will be able to manage it much better.
